Day 48 | Blast From The Past
Mi Gente! It’s your favorite travel blogger! #newcareer π
Yesterday was an amazing class. More and more students are showing to learn from your doctor. Give it up for Restelo dance center. I was very pleased. The students are understanding the ginga and working on their swipes. The ladies worked hard on not anticipating the move in class. They are helping the leaders so that leaders really invest in their skills, because in a social setting, there is no choreography. Kizomba requires the same mastery like a sport, cannot take it for granted. The better dancer is the better player. The one that does the most practice outside of class. The better dancer is the one that pleases his partner the most because his moves are so smooth, flow so naturally, he has practiced it so many times. Repetition is the mother of learning, mi Gente!
Yesterday your boy got a nice surprise. My friend Adilson AbΓlio aka Fuzy Gonzo called me up to tell me he’d just landed in Portugal. We haven’t seen each other in 20 years. We used to swim together. ππΏWe went to the time trials for the selection of team Angola and broke national records #itsnotboastingifitsafact. πThis guy was my buddy from Day 1 but we are also cousins! For real, we found out our grandparents were siblings #keeptheawesomeinthefamily. When I saw him yesterday, it was like I never left Angola. A mutual connection, a connection I’ve missed for so long. Mi Gente, I love what I do, but in business of dancing you are often with people that are friends out of interest in dancing, not friends that are just interested in friendship. Fuzy Gonzo knows me for who I am, telling me stories about me that I’d forgotten and it all makes sense.
Yesterday Fuzy and your boy jumped in an Uber and went on an adventure. We started at Havana club, listening to the sounds of DJ Rams and DJ Tavas. We met 2 tourists from Spain and we ended up at a club called Docks, listening to kuduro and techno all night. Check out your boy’s live videos on IG @drkizomba. That party was simply bananas. Got home at 6 in the morning. Very happy tired.π΄
